Hiking & Nature Trails
Rainforests, waterfalls & scenic lookouts across the Gold Coast hinterland
Beyond the beaches, the Gold Coast hinterland is a world of ancient rainforests, cascading waterfalls, and breathtaking panoramic views. From gentle family walks to challenging summit hikes, these trails showcase the region's incredible natural beauty.
Best Time to Visit
Autumn (March–May) and winter (June–August) offer the best hiking conditions with cooler temperatures and clear skies. Spring brings wildflowers. Summer can be hot and humid — start early and carry plenty of water.
Getting Around
Most hinterland trails are a 30–50 minute drive from the coast. A car is essential as public transport to trailheads is limited. The Springbrook, Lamington, and Tamborine Mountain areas each offer multiple trails.
